Competition robot for FRC Team 10183 ARC for the 2026 REBUILT season. A high-throughput shooter bot focused on maximizing FUEL scoring.

Project Overview

Competition robot "Mr. Peabody" for FRC Team 10183 ARC for the 2026 REBUILT season. As a full-time mentor, I guided the team through the design and build process, focusing on a high-throughput shooter strategy.

Role: Full-Time Mentor

Team: FRC Team 10183 ARC

Game: REBUILT (2026)

Robot Name: Mr. Peabody

Tools: Onshape

The Game

REBUILT challenges teams to shoot foam balls (FUEL) into the HUB. Our strategy focused on maximizing FUEL throughput to win matches and achieve ranking points.

Ranking Points:

  • WIN — 3 RP
  • ENERGIZE — 100 FUEL scored — 1 RP
  • SUPERCHARGED — 360 FUEL scored — 1 RP
  • TRAVERSAL — 50 climb points — 1 RP

We prioritized FUEL throughput over climbing as more valuable to match wins.

Key Mechanisms

Drivetrain

  • 26.5" x 26.5" swerve drive
  • 2" x 1" aluminum tube crossbars for mounting
  • 1/8" aluminum bellypan with weight-reduction pockets
  • "Brainpan" configuration — all electronics mounted underneath

Intake

  • Four-bar linkage, stores inside frame perimeter
  • Pivot: Kraken X44 with 30:1 reduction
  • Rollers: Kraken X44 with 2.67:1 reduction
  • 2" polycarbonate tube top rollers
  • 1.25" bottom roller with stretched 3" flex wheels
  • Integrated ramp to reduce bumper contact time

Hopper

  • 9x 15mm HTD 5mm belt floor conveyor
  • Kraken X44 with 2:1 reduction
  • 0.25" polycarbonate walls with 0.125" pockets

Indexer

  • Belt tunnel conveyor (inspired by FRC 118 "Ruckus" 2017)
  • Kraken X60 with 2:1 reduction
  • Top and bottom belt system prevents spinning in place
  • Ball shield (inspired by FRC 1690 "Kepler" 2026)

Shooter

  • 2x Kraken X44 at 1:1 (chosen for higher free speed and faster recovery)
  • 3" urethane flywheel, no added inertia
  • Fixed 39° angle for OUTPOST scoring
  • 2x 1.5" polycarbonate counter rollers at 1:1
  • Adjustable hood: 33.7° to 75° (~41° range)
  • Hood driven by Kraken X44 with 113.33:1 on custom 10DP gear rack

Vision

  • Limelight 4 mounted on shooter ear bracket
  • TPU 3D printed mount for impact resistance
  • Enables pose updates during shooting cycles
